Decision on the Creation of Sectoral Working Group for Dialogue with the
Private Sector
The Government issued on
January 25, 2001 Decision No. 07 SSR to create working groups
representing the Royal Government in 7 sectors:
-
Working Group in charge of Agriculture and
Agro-industry;
-
Working Group in charge of Tourism;
-
Working Group in charge of Manufacturing and
Distribution;
-
Working Group in charge of Legislation, Taxation and
Governance;
-
Working Group in charge of Services including
Banking and Finance;
-
Working Group in charge of Energy and
Infrastructure;
-
Working Group in charge of Processing for Export.
The composition of each
Working Group is listed in the annex. Each working group has the
following main duties:
- to
discuss and share views with the private sector partner in order to
resolve any pending issues within their sectoral responsibilities
expediently and, if necessary, submit it to the relevant competent
authorities;
- to
consider with private sector partner strategic initiatives so as to
encourage the performance of existing investment enterprises as well as
attract new investments into Cambodia;
- to
submit regular reports to the Royal Government regarding the status of
their works and their objectives to be carried out for the purpose of
providing the necessary basis for the Prime Minister's recommendations
at the Royal Government and Private Sector forum;
- to
handle other pertinent works within its responsibilities as directed by
the Royal Government;
A General Secretariat funded by the International Financial Corporation
will be established and serve as a mechanism for the Government and
Private Sector Forum. The Council for the Development of Cambodia will
act as the focal point for handling all relations between the working
groups and for making summary reports to the Royal Government.
