ON
TRADE AND TECHNICAL COOPERATION
BETWEEN
THE MINISTRY OF COMMERCE OF THE KINGDOM OF CAMBODIA
AND
THE MINISTRY OF COMMERCE OF THE KINGDOM OF THAILAND

On the occasion of the Official Meeting between the Ministry of Commerce of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Ministry of Commerce of the Kingdom of Thailand held in Phnom Penh, Kingdom of Cambodia, on 3rd July 1999, and with the common desires and objectives to expand and promote trade including technical cooperation, the two Ministries have exchanged views on the following issues

 

1. Bilateral Cooperation

1.1 To further strengthen the existing bonds of traditional friendly relations and enhance the bilateral trade and economic relations including cooperation in general issue based on the principles of friendship and mutual benefits.

1.2 To promote linkages between the Ministries and their offices responsible for trade and economic issues of the Parties.

1.3 To exchange information on trade and business situation of their respective nations and also to intensify cooperation for further trade expansion.

1.4 To promote the development of technical cooperation including training in field of trade and the exchange of trade experts.

1.5 To encourage the exchange of trade missions and the participation of their nationals in Trade Fairs and/or Trade, Exhibition in each countries.  

2. Trade Relations  

The two sides expressed with satisfaction the constructive efforts to expand market access and increase volume of trade both in bilateral trade and border trade. They also agreed to ensure the protection and prevention of looting and smuggling goods along their borders.  

 

3. Joint Trade Committee (JTC)

Both sides agreed to consider the establishment of a Joint Trade Committee (JTC) at the Ministerial level in order to review trade issues and recommend measures for promoting and expanding trade relations and cooperation between the two countries.

 

4. Intellectual Property

Both sides shall intensify the implementation of Memorandurn of Understanding on Intellectual Property Cooperation signed on 5th March 1997 between H.E. Dr. Naronachai Akrasanee, Minister of Commerce of the Kingdom of Thailand, and H.E. Mr. Cham Prasidh, Minister of Commerce of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and find appropriate ways and means to ensure the protection and the enforcement of the respective intellectual property rights of the nationals of both countries.

 

5. Regional Cooperation

5.1 ASEAN Economic Cooperation

To reinforce the economic cooperation within ASEAN framework in the interest of further enlargement of trade and investment within region.

5.2 Economic Cooperation of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS)

To speed up the development of the multi-modal transportation system in the Sub-region in order to facilitate the transit of goods and expand trade volume between the two Parties.
