PROFILE 0F GTC

            GTC was established in1998 by sub-decree #72 of 23 November 1998.It is a merger  of 3 former state owned companies, Cambodian Food Company, Material& Equipment Company & Agricultural Product Company.GTC was formed as a publlic enterprise in the nature of a state owned enterprise. The institution is under the technical supervision of the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) and under the financial supervision of the Ministry of Economic and Finance. GTC is an autonomous body in respect of administration and finance. It carries out the functions of trade, production and services. Besides trading in foodstuff, GTC  is also involved in other commodities. Moreover it undertakes a similar function as other companies in the private sector such as transportation, tourism, production etc…In addition, GTC is a ready partner in local & foreign joint ventures. The Camtran Company the remaining state owned company under the Ministry of Commerce has just merged with GTC , becoming the fourth company to do so in 2001 .GTC shall be headed by a Board of Directors (BoDs) comprising 7 members : 2 from GTC and 5 from MoC, MEF, MAFF , MoP and the Council of Ministers. The Director General of GTC shall be appointed for a duration of 3 years by a sub- decree and has the duty to supervise the daily operation of GTC in accordance with the law and guideline of BoDs . The state ensures any loan to GTC with the approval of the  Minister of Economics and Finance .

7- ROLES OF GTC

a-To buy and sell commodities and foodstuff in order to maintain market prices and regulate for sustaining the price of agricultural products. 

b-To take part in managing export import activities of commodities and foodstuff. 

c- To take part in managing food security reserves for emergency needs of the government. 

d-To take part in supplying foodstuff and commodities to the needs of the government. 

e-To do all other business activities  as mentioned in the statute of the Company.
